Isabela Lleó

Born in Madrid

She has been painting since the first moments in her life. She studied Arts in Madrid, Munich and Hamburg University where she met and participated in lectures and symposiums with Daniel Spoerri (father of fluxus) Joseph Beys, Nam June Paik, Herman Nitsch Helke Sander and Franz Erhard Walther among other important artists . She was pioneering in setting up an International Atelier Exchange Center in Hamburg. As an artist she developed skills in different disciplines, first in Film Video and Computer related image making her first exhibition Digital Love" in the early ninetees. This work was exhibited in Hamburg. Poland and Spain. After a year of doing a master in Computer animation in CNBDI Angouleme, University Balearic Islands and Metrolight studios in L.A. she settled over in Mallorca where she started her path as a sculptor, working mostly in stone. As a sculptor she got public commissions (Puerto Soller), collectors and exhibited in national and international exhibitions (Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi and Cottesloe, Australia, ECC Biennale de Venezie 2018, Giardinni Marinaressa, Fiss, Austria, Kunst am Berg, CCAAndratx, Mallorca, etc) Mother of four childs her work is profoundly immerse in nature. She follows the path of planting trees and living close to nature for 30 years, planting herself over 500 trees in an abandoned area from the island. She was working artistically with the issue of the abandoned nature in the series of Woodcuts "HIVERN" and in the videos

"DEAD TREES LIVING TREES, which were broadly shown in different places of the islands.

Another of the most important themes of her work is TIME LIFE DEATH.

She decided to study Clinical Psychology to treat mental illness through art and finished her Degree in 2010. She opened the Psychology Office "ARTE SANA MENTE" which means art heals mind " in 2014. She was also leading the graphic studio FUERA DE REGISTRO " where she taught graphic techniques and organized exhibitions and art fairs with an international group of students from the area in Mallorca where she was living. She participated in The Modern Art Museum from Mallorca "ES BALUARD" organized a workshop with father of video art Robert Cahen. Her video was BLAU OLIVIER, now in ES BALUARD archives using the unique technique she developed based on drawings or single images and transforming them into video through changing the curves manually. This year she was represented in ARCO ART FAIR Madrid and Lisboa by Fontanar Galeria de arte, participated in FIG (international Art Fair for printing, Bilbao 6 times since 2012, had an individual exhibition In Oreka Art Gallery, Bask Country and was invited to international workshop Sianoja in Noja, Spain. She will attend an international artist residency in Kurashiki, invited by sculptor Wataru Hamasaka during the months of july and august and will be participating for the second year in Kunst am Berg Fiss, Austria in September.
